FILM AT 11?

Channel 4 had news at 10, then it didn't, then it did. Channel 6 has news at 11 on 6 and at 10 on 4. Channel 13 had news at 11, then at 10 and may go back to 11. Channel 59 is going from no news to 10 news.

Confused? One way or another, Indianapolis TV viewers can catch the late local news at 10 p.m. or at 11 p.m.; they simply have to pay attention to the program to see who's doing what at what time. Just when things had settled down from Channel 13's switch to 10 p.m. news, WXIN (Channel 59) has announced plans to stir things up with its entry into local news programming this fall.

WXIN, the local Fox Broadcasting Co. affiliate, will produce its own 10 p.m. newscast Monday through Friday beginning in early fall, according to General Manager Joseph Young. "There's an appetite for news at 10 o'clock," he said, pointing to the average 17 percent of 10 p.m. viewers that WTHR (Channel 13) has drawn since its switch from 11 p.m. last spring.

Young would not discuss details of the planned WXIN news department until news director Jim Sanders comes on board July 15. He did note that the station would produce the show...
