<BR>Portland State University will add a new dimension to its community with a Native American Student and Community Center a facility that will also extend the citys West End Cultural District.<BR>Planned is a $3.5 million building described by PSU as the only facility of its kind in the metropolitan area, serving as a learning and cultural center for Native Americans and the community at large. The site is on Southwest Jackson Street between Broadway Street and the South Park Blocks.<BR>The way that I like to describe the true mission, it will serve as a magnet and a home for Native American students, said Donna Schaeffer, assistant vice president for development at PSU.<BR>Encompassing 11,000 square feet on one floor, the facility will include a room for up to 300 people attending ceremonial events, storytelling, art activities and other gatherings; classroom and seminar space; offices; a library/resource room with computers...
