PROVIDENCE, R.I., Jan 25, 2006 (U.S. Newswire via COMTEX) -- A federal jury in Providence today found Richard Hatch, of Newport, guilty of tax evasion for failing to report to the IRS about $1,037,000 that he won from the "Survivor" television series and about $391,000 income from a half-dozen other sources.
United States Attorney Robert Clark Corrente announced the verdict, which the jury returned today in U.S. District Court, Providence, after an eight-day trial before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Ernest C. Torres and about six hours of deliberation. The jury found Hatch not guilty of related fraud charges alleging that he misused charitable contributions intended for a foundation that he ran.
