The merger of Paramount Communications Inc and Viacom International Inc will link Viacom's cable network businesses and Paramount's motion picture production and syndication businesses. The $8.2 billion merger also merges together Viacom's radio stations and cable systems with Paramount's home video, theme park and book businesses. The merger gives Viacom access to Paramount's film library and provides the basic number of hours of material needed to start basic networks with themes.
