Boston Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Massachusetts, MA, annual 'Currents' exhibition examined transvestism, gender-crossing and gay and racial identity in 1993. The exhibition, entitled 'Dress Codes,' comprised multimedia works of 24 artists, including Nan Goldin's photographs of transvestites, videos of make-up seminars for male cross-dressers, and portraits by Catherine Opie and Yaumasa Morimura.
