BANDUNG, Indonesia -- The IPTN N-250 -- a 68-seat high speed turboprop -- was rolled out here Nov. 10, in front of Indonesia President Soeharto and more than 700 guests around the world. The aircraft represents the third phase of IPTN's 4-part technology program. The aircraft presented in the ceremony was a 50-seat prototype of the N-250. The manufacturer plans to make a third of version of the type a 64-70-seat version of the N-250-100.
The N-250, which retails for $13.5 million, is powered by two Allison AE-2100C engines with Dowty Aerospace R384 six-bladed propellers. It also includes an integrated digital avionics suite, weather radar, a ground proximity warning system and a traffic collision avoidance system. The type has an economic speed of 300 knots (556 km/hr) and a maximum speed of 330 knots...
