NBC sewed up a new affiliate in Philadelphia last week, but at a price, as the network cast off some of its owned-and-operated stations to the CBS-Group W partnership. NBC traded its Denver O&O, KCNC, and $30 million to CBS--Group W for CBS' WCAU in Philadelphia. When the FCC approves NBC's pending purchase of KUTV in Salt Lake City, the network also will sell that station to CBS--Group W. And in Miami, NBC will trade the dial position and broadcast tower of its WTVJ for the facilities of CBS O&O WCIX.

NBC's signal will take a hit in Miami because the tower at WCIX currently does not reach 15 percent of the market....
