Abstract :

Lockheed Aeronautical Systems (Lockheed) has developed an upgraded version of its C-130 Hercules aircraft, designated as C-130J. The upgraded version is capable of carrying payloads similar to the C-130H but at lower costs. Lockheed designers noted that cost reductions were achieved through the installation of new Allison AE2100 turboprop engines as well as more durable avionics.
