Abstract :

KTVI-TV News Dir. Bill Berra, KDNL-TV News Dir. Gary Whitaker and Broadcast News Development Pres. Fred J. Burrows believe that television station's success will depend largely on their ability to diversify and at the same time produce shows which interest viewers. Speaking about the changes affecting the television broadcasting of news during a discussion co-sponsored by the Press Club of Metropolitan St. Louis, the panelists admitted that as more competitors enter the business, keeping an audience will be essential to the survival of TV stations.
