Abstract :
Disney Interactive has been able to achieve success in the market for interactive multimedia CD-ROMs for children because it knows how to leverage its in-house animation and storytelling strengths by outsourcing actual title development to developers such as Media Station and 7th Level. Media Station produced the Animated Storybook: Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree for Disney, while Disney turned to renowned game developer 7th Level to produce GameBreak. Media Station scanned images that were hand-drawn by Disney artists. It inked and painted them using Electronic Arts' Deluxe Paint. Media Station relied on proprietary tools to compose the CD elements, and used Adobe Photoshop and hand-drawn images to develop animation. 7th Level used Photoshop to integrate 2D animation into GameBreak, and then used proprietary technology to achieve 24-fps animation.
