I'm not going to try to divert anyone determined to set up a World Wide Web site using Windows, OS/2 or Unix servers. But I do believe some of the best Web server products are available for Macintosh servers.

The big dog in the Mac Web server market is WebStar, formerly from Starnine Corp. and now a Quarterdeck Corp. product. The earlier incarnation of WebStar, MacHTTP, is still available for a 30-day trial at the Quarterdeck Web site (see chart, right).

Until recently, WebStar and MacHTTP were the only useful Web servers for the Mac. Now, there are several to choose from, and some of them look very good.
