A report issued by a group of cryptographers and computer scientists entitled 'The Risks of Key Recovery, Key Escrow, and Trusted Third- Party Encryption' in the May 27, 1997 issue of Communications of the ACM magazine is discussed. The report explained the deployment of key-recovery-based encryption infrastructures in law enforcement. Essentially, it was concluded that such cryptographic implementations are too costly and unsecure.
