Abstract :

Many devices have been developed that focus the sun's energy to kill harmful pathogens in water and make the water safe for drinking. These devices range from the simplest to the most complex, with the solar box and solar still being the simplest solar purification tools. Solar boxes may be used to pasteurize water but they do not remove chemical contaminants. A variety of simple solar water purification devices and their merits are discussed.
