Abstract :

A growing number of business organizations have been turning to outsourcing to manage even their core functions, such as employee training. According to the 1997 Human Performance Practice Report, 73% of all organizations polled used outside training firms in 1996. However, for businesses which remain hesitant about outsourcing an activity as vital as training, strategic insourcing could be utilized. A partnership between internal and external training providers, strategic insourcing aims to address the strategic challenges and limitations of traditional outsourcing and provide speed of service, expertise, flexibility, single point of contact and cost improvement. Strategic insourcing will enable external and internal training providers to combine their skills and resources in forming an organization that has shared goals, shared accountability and a shared destiny.
