Abstract :

TV station KDNL News Dir David Cohen should not have said the racial slur that anyone who eats fried chicken and mashed potatoes is going to have a heart disease. The disease is highly prevalent among African Americans and Cohen should have known that he was dangerously close to the 'watermelon' stereotype. He should have apologized for his remarks right there and then but unfortunately he did not. It is tragic that something like this should happen to Cohen, who is a long-time member of the St Louis Journalism Review and a good journalist too.
