Abstract :
The owners of South Korea's chaebols, or family-owned business enterprises, should learn to manage their companies using an entirely new approach which will focus on creating shareholder value instead of empire building. The chaebols have to take credit for being the backbone of South Korean development for four decades. However, it should also take the blame for partly leading the country into recession because of its blind concentration on capacity expansion.
