Anne Githuku-Shongwe, the head representative of the UN Women South Africa Multi-Country Office (Samco), has encouraged women to believe in the power of their voice to ensure the effectiveness of empowerment in the workplace.
At a conference called Voices of Change, held at Emperors Palace Convention Centre in Kempton Park, Joburg, Githuku-Shongwe told the 400-strong female audience that "you have power in your voice".
She said women in the corporate world needed to speak up on issues such as equal opportunity, respectful treatment by male colleagues, sexual harassment and pay parity.
