Genuine excitement, the sort that surrounds a performance and makes it something more than just another live set, has always been in short supply at Aqua Fest. Even when the much-maligned event has presented successful and/or significant acts the fan reaction has frequently been underwhelming. The few times an audience has generated a buzz of its own have invariably come when hot, young Tejano acts such as Mazz and La Sombra have played the festival.
