Abstract :
Hewlett-Packard's upgrade of its ScanJet flatbed scanner brings higher resolution to a maximum of 1,500 dots-per-inch. The 8-bit ScanJet Plus upgrades the earlier 4-bit Scanjet introduced in 1985. The scanner digitizes images into a PC, using ScanJet Plus software for either the IBM PC or Apple Macintosh. Images can be adjusted, mirrored or given added detail with the software. The software has a simple user interface for performing image manipulation. The compact scanner measures 18.9-inches deep and weighs 16.5 pounds. The new ScanJet Plus has a price tag of $1,595, plus $595 for either the Mac or PC interface. Comparable 8-bit scanners now sell for over $3,000.
