PARIS, JuLY 18.

In his examination before the Magistrate yesterday the Communist Gustave Bouvet made the important avowal that he fired at a carriage in the procession last Friday because he thought he recognized M. Poincar6 as one of the oecupants.

When pressed as to whether he thought at the time that he was firing at the Prime Minister, he said: " Prime Minister or President of the Republic, it did not matter much to me. I wanted to make a demonstration." He also admitted that he had gone to the Champs Elysees with the express purpose of making his demonstration, though not of wounding anvbody. He declared that ho had acted alone, without accomplices.

Bouvet refused to give an explanation of his motive. In view of his mention of Poincar6, the Communist campaign of abuse of the Prime Minister, which reached its height in the recent debate in the Chamber of Deputies, is being recalled.
