MEMORIAL SERVICES
COMMANDER SIR MORTON SMART
The Queen was represented by Sir Horace Evans at the memorial service for Commander Sir Morton Smart held yesterday at the Queen's Chapel of the Savoy. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was represented by Major J. Griffin, the Duke of Gloucester by Major M. Hawkins and the Princess Royal by Mrs. B. Cuthbert. The Rev. Cyril Cresswell officiated, assisted by Prebendary W. L. Cottrell, and the lesson was read by Admiral Earl Mountbatten of Burma. An address, written by Marshal of the R.A.F. Lord Tedder (who was prevented from attending), was read by Dr. B. Kiernander, who also represented the Air Council, the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, and the Royal Society of Medicine. Those present included: -

A memorial service for the Right Rev. Gerald Burton Allen was held in the chapel of Cheltenham Colege yesterday. Those taking part in the service were the headmaster of Cheltenham College (the Rev. A. G. Pentreath), Canon L. B. Goodliffe, who gave the address, the Rev. John Wood, the Rev. T. J. Eastwood, and the Rev. C J. Weston. General Sir Alan Cunningham (president of the college council) read the lesson. Among others present were: -
