£60,000 GIFT FOR COLLEGE CHAPEL

Fitzwilliami Collegge, which this year celebrates the centenary of its foundation as the non-collegiate institution of Cambridge University, has received an anonymous gift of £60,000 to be used for the building of a chapel in the college grounds.

The college said it was the donor's wish that a chapel should be built as soon as possible, and Mr. Denys Lasdun, who designed the new college, has been asked to prepare a plan for the building.

CHURCHILL COLLEGE: R. D. Campbell, Monckton Combe School, has been awarded a Kitchener Scholarship.

Mr. F. T. Mattison has been appointed deputy secretary of the univdrsity. He is at present sub-dean of the Faculty of Asth at Liverpool University, where he also lectures in public administration.

Sir Robert Menzies, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. is to be made an Honorary Doctor of Civil Law on July 11.
