Sir Harold Parker, KCB, KBE, MC, died* on February 5, at the age of 84. Educated at Haberdashers' School he entered the Exchequer and Audit Department in 1914. He served during the First World War gaining his- MC in 1918, and afterwards entered the Treasury in 1919.

Parker became a Principal Assistant Secretary. in 1938, a:d during the Second World War he was Deputy Secretary ,Ministry of Pensions from. 1941. From 1946 to 1948 he was Secretary, Ministry raf Pensions, and from 1948 to 1956 when. he

retired he wNas Permainent Secretary to the Ministry of Defence.

He, vas Chairrtaan of the Corporation- of Tins'uance Bhrokers Society of Pension Consultants from 1958 to 1970, and a Member of the United Nations Civil Service Advisory Board from 1957 to 1970.'He evas President of the Amate ur Swimming Association in 1958.

Parker was made CB in 1943, created KBE in 1946 and KCB in .1949.

He married, in 1926. Kathleen Maud Gibbs. They had two sons..
