Mr. John Cliff, assistant secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union. who has been appointed a member of the Royal Commission on Labour conditions in India, left Victoria Station yesterday afternoon. He will travel overland to Marseilles, where he will join the P. and 0. liner for Bombay. He expects to be away for six months. Among those at the station to see him off were Mr. Ben Tillett, M.P. (ex-chairman of the Trades Union Congress and international secretary of the Transport Union). Mr. U. R. Kalappa (general secretary, Indian Labour Union), Mr. F. Stilwell, and Mir. Archie Henderson (Transport Workers' Union).
