Japan has placed with a Glasgow firm a large order for steel-framed buildings for Government engineering workshops. Yesterday an application by Arthur Smith, the Oldham Cricket Club professional, for the transfer of the licence of the Royal Hotel to himself from William D. Mallinson was granted. A receiving order was made yesterday in the Manchester County Court on the debtor's own petition against Arthur Green, coal dealer, of Stuart-street, Bradford, Manchester. He has been adjudicated a bankrupt. The Cheshire Lines Committee is arranging a series of cheap excursions for " Sundays on the S<ja" in connection with the steamship service to Llandudno (day or half-day), Beaumaris, Bangor, and Menai Bridge (day).
