Yamiche Alcindor is an American journalist. She began reporting on local events as an intern for the Seattle Times and the Miami Herald. After graduating from Georgetown University, Alcindor worked with nationally recognized news publications, including USA Today. In 2015 she became a national reporter for the New York Times, for which she covers politics and social justice issues.
Early Career
Yamiche Alcindor was born in southern Florida and grew up writing short stories and poems. She first started writing for newspapers in high school. Alcindor reported for the Westside Gazette, a local publication that focused on the African American community of southern Florida. She enjoyed reporting on local events and about topics that interested her.
