The start of a project to rebuild and upgrade the broadband infrastructure and video technology capabilities at Chalmette High School, St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, USA, has been announced by communications solutions provider Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT), after the school suffered substantial damage from Hurricane Katrina.

Motorola said it presented a USD50,000 cheque to the students in assembly to rebuild the school's technology infrastructure for the 2008-2009 school year, which will allow faculty to offer advance curriculum and interactive activities.

The school's new campus, which is due to open in Autumn 2009, will feature up-to-date video and high-speed data services enabling students and teachers to access rich multimedia experiences. The company confirmed it will also provide radios to improve communication between faculty and administrators.
