30 RUSSIAN TANKS ENTER HEART OF EAST BERLIN TROOP CARRIERS MOVE UP BERLIN, Thursday. MORE than 30 Russian tanks, supported by armoured troop carriers and Jeep-type vehicles, lumbered down East Berlin's Prenzlauer Allee to-night into the heart of the city in the first major Russian troop movement in the Eastern sector this year. The tanks bore no markings except numbers. The crews were in black uniform and wore Russian-style forage caps, while the Jeeps had Soviet number plates and the troops in the carriers wore Russian j------ j uniforms. A steel-helmeted East German soldier armed with a rifle held up traffic- at a key junction as the column of tanks passed along Prenzlauer Allee. one of East Berlin's maior thoroughfares. Small knots of people stood and watched silently. But a group of youths waved and cheered. Later ihe tanks were parked in an enclosed space olf Unter den Linden.
