MIKAEL Forssell swept the board of the main honours at last night's Blues annual awards dinner at the Metropole Hilton Hotel.
The 19-goal Finnish international was named player-of-the-season, courtesy of a vote by fans via sponsor flybe.com's website. He was the overwhelming choice from the nominees, which included Maik Taylor, Robbie Savage and Kenny Cunningham. Forssell also received the players' player-of-theseason award, ahead of Maik Taylor, Cunningham and Damien Johnson, as well as the Junior Blues' player-of-the-season honour to go with his topgoalscorer trophy.
Stan Lazaridis's run from the halfway line which ended with a spectacular shot beyond Everton's Nigel Martyn was named goal-of-the-season.
Carl Motterman edged out Andrew Barrowman and Marcos Painter for the young player-of-the-season award and Ian Bennett was given the clubman gong.
