It's time for Championship Auto Racing Teams midseason awards. Here are the highs and lows from the first half of the season:

Best race: In what looks like its last race at Michigan International Speedway, CART put on a thrilling show. There were 61 lead changes among 11 drivers. Need I say more?

Worst race: The Portland 200 was tedious to watch. In a rainstorm, Max Papis claimed his second career victory. Of course, that's because just about every other driver wound up off course, bringing out a plethora of yellow flags.

Teammates? Kenny Brack and Papis dominated the Michigan 500. Between them, they led 138 laps. That is, until they ran into each other on lap 227.

Teammates: In the late stages of the Michigan 500, Alex Tagliani came from nowhere to help teammate Patrick Carpentier win his first race.

Can we expect you back?: In the worst public relations fiasco since Furrs said it would not file for bankruptcy, CART announced on the morning of the race that the Texas 600K was being canceled because drivers complained of dizziness on the high banks.

First-timers: Three drivers won their first CART race rookie Scott Dixon at Nazareth, Pa.; Brack at Motegi, Japan; and Carpentier at Michigan. Of these, Brack's was the most overdue.
