We just discussed the ways we use electricity and how it's helpful in our lives. But electricity can also be dangerous if not treated with respect. For example, thousands of house fires are caused every year by electricity. Mostly from old or bad wiring. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to be safe with electricity. Never put your finger or any object other then the plug of an electric cord into an outlet. If you notice any electric wiring that appears damaged or frayed, tell an adult immediately. Keep electrical devices away from water, especially while you're in the water. If you ever see power lines on the ground, stay clear of them. Then tell an adult right away. Be aware of lightning. It can be very dangerous so go inside a safe building in a lightning storm.
