Abstract :

Two previously unpublished letters concerning Virginia Woolf's efforts to publish 'Night and Day' in the US were discovered in the Monk's House Papers at the University of Sussex. These letters reveal that she was negotiating a deal with Macmillan Co based on a late Nov 1919 offer but that it fell through, resulting in the George H. Doran Co releasing both 'A Voyage Out' in May and 'Night and Day' in September 1920. The letters are dated Jun 8, and Sep 14, 1919, and their full text is included.
