Abstract :

A study was conducted to determine whether microevolutionary processes generated phylogenomic discordance at ancient divergences. Multispecies coalescent models were used and results showed that five eukaryotic clades demonstrated significant discordance potential at divergences over 50 million years old, which was independent of the age of divergence. This demonstrated that population processes acting over short periods, will leave a lasting impact on genomic histories.
