Abstract :

A study on selective exposure that shows this as a way of conveying identity through information display is presented. One of the experiments showed that information display is characterized by people as a way to communicate their views to an audience. Results show that selective-exposure theories are likely incomplete because people's beliefs and goals regarding information display are ignored.
