Abstract :

The appearance-related visual processing mechanisms in women at risk of disorders characterized by body image disturbance are assessed in two studies. The studies examined appearance-related configural processing in adolescent women and visual processing mechanisms related to body, face and house viewing in adolescents. Findings show that women in recovery are quicker to respond to all stimuli.
