Abstract :

Soil microcosms have several distinct advantages over experiments conducted in the field. They can prove reliable in conducting studies on specific occurrences in soil ecosystems since external variables can be controlled. They are also less expensive and simpler to implement and maintain. However, researchers conducting soil microcosm studies should play close attention to the construction of such systems, comparison of results with field studies and the synthesis of such results to develop reliable and acceptable hypotheses.
