The different conditions in different ocean areas pose challenges for vessel owners to make sure the vessel hull is well-protected. In icy surroundings such as in the Arctic area, the vessel hull has to endure the strikes from floating ice, while in warm surroundings, fouling penetration on the hull is a major problem. Therefore, the marine coating industry is pursuing a special type of coatings that provides the solution for both abrasion resistance and antifouling properties.
