Time-dependent inhibition of isoprenylcysteine carboxyl methytransferase by indole-based small molecules

A study was conducted to establish the kinetic characteristics of cysmethynil, which act as a classical time-dependent inhibitor of isoprenylcysteine carboxyl methyltransferase (Icmt). Findings reveal that cysmethynil is a competitive inhibitor with respect to the isoprenylated cysteine substrate and a noncompetitive inhibitor with respect to AdoMet the methyl donor in the reaction.
