Abstract :

The article describes the investigation of the effect of low-dose iron therapy on acute and chronic iron metabolism and subsequent endurance capacity in national and international standard runners. It was found that a single 500-mg intravenous iron injection was effective in improving iron status for at least 4 weeks, but this did not lead to improved aerobic capacity.
