Abstract :

The article reviews a 1945 study by Alfred Blalock and Helen Taussig describing their surgeries on children with tetralogy of Fallot, in which they were aided by surgical technician Vivien Thomas. It also evaluates the model of clinical-scientific-surgical cooperation that the Blalock-Taussig-Thomas collaboration offers to contemporary medical challenges.
