Abstract :

Trainers can take measures to ensure the validity of competency tests, which can then be used in the evaluation of training programs. Trainers should identify their objectives, develop an outline of the test, and determine which format to use for the questions. Trainers should then develop the actual questions on the test and decide whether the test should be in a written or hands-on format. Trainers should then assess the validity of the test's content. Trainers can help ensure the reliability of the results by giving the test in a positive environment and by using the services of a skilled test administrator. Tests should be analyzed periodically for relevance, and feedback on the test should be obtained.
