Abstract :

Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour was a foundational builder of equity, diversity, and inclusion in Canada. This article describes her vision and leadership in creating the Canadian Centre for Women in Science, Engineering, Trades, and Technology (WinSETT Centre, www.winsett.ca) to generate and sustain national conversations and diversity initiatives. We outline the activities associated with these phases--beginning the diversity initiative, building on success, creating capacity, and launching a national centre--to demonstrate how this change effort has evolved. The comprehensive work since 2003 illustrates the focus, tenacity, and institutional entrepreneurship of Dr. Armour to "move the dial" for diversity and inclusion in Canada. She was a pioneer in social entrepreneurship, creating the organizations, initiatives, and networks to support systemic change. La Dre Margaret-Ann Armor a jete les bases d'un mouvement pour l'equite, la diversite et l'inclusion au Canada. Le present article decrit sa vision et son leadership dans la creation du Canadian Centre for Women in Science, Engineering, Trades, and Technology (le centre WinSETT, www.winsett.ca), dont la mission est de susciter des discussions et de soutenir des initiatives a l'echelle nationale en matiere de diversite. Nous relevons les activites associees aux differentes phases - amorce de l'initiative de diversite, mise a contribution des reussites, mise en place des ressources et lancement d'un centre national - pour montrer l'evolution de cet effort de changement. Le travail assidu effectue depuis 2003 illustre l'esprit d'entrepreneuriat institutionnel, la determination et la tenacite de la Dre Armor pour faire changer les mentalites en matiere de diversite et d'inclusion au Canada. Elle a ete une pionniere de l'entrepreneuriat social, par la creation d'organismes, d'initiatives et des reseaux pour favoriser un changement systemique.
