Abstract :

Vibration control in helicopter design is a challenging problem. Optimum sensor locations were identified in a three-dimensional model of a flexible fuselage structure, using a mathematical procedure using the Fisher information matrix. The optimally selected sensor locations show relatively high levels of vibration irrespective of excitation frequency. A multi-input/multi-output control problem was formulated and solved to achieve active control forces needed for vibration minimization.
