Abstract :

A study extends the work of Bearden et al., who developed and tested a two-dimensional scale to measure long-term orientation (LTO) at the individual level, in order to examine its psychometric properties and generalizability of the scale across ten countries of the European Union (EU). Findings indicate that the LTO scale is found to possess sufficient dimensional properties in most of the EU countries with LTO significantly associated with individualistic orientation, and that the generalizability is found to be satisfactory although discriminant validity is not evident.
