An own-age bias in mixed- and pure-list presentations: No evidence for the social-cognitive account.

A study was conducted to examine the robustness of the own-age bias (OAB) and understand its formation. The OAB emerged under both mixed-list and pure-list conditions across three experiments. The results show that OAB in a mixed-list of own- and other-age faces is more consistent with a perceptual-expertise than OAB's social-cognitive account.
