Abstract :

The scientists at the Agricultural Research Service at the Plant Physiology Research Unit have isolated the gene responsible for hypernodulation of soybean root systems. They found that hypernodulation signals originate from young soybean leaves by inducing hypernodulation on the mung bean through grafting of hypernodulated soybean shoots. Hypernodulation can also be induced in other legumes if the nodule control signal can be identified.
