Abstract :

Childhood marriages in the Rwandan refugee camps demonstrate how badly the social fabric has been destroyed since the 1994 violence. Before the violence, families abided by traditional marital rituals and customs. In the refugee camps, girls often marry because they have lost their families to war and have no other means of support.
