Abstract :

The rapid spread of scientific misinformation on social media platforms throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is described. Surveillance of digital data and partnering with trusted messengers can engage the public and advance scientifically sound public health measures. Other strategies to counteract the adverse effects of misinformation are also proposed.
