Abstract :

A COVID-19 patient in an overburdened ICU required central venous access for vasopressor infusion. An available intern attempted to place a triple-lumen catheter in the right internal jugular vein using only anatomic landmarks for guidance, resulting in pulsatile return of blood when the access needle was inserted. The outcomes of the corrective measures are also discussed.
