Abstract :

An update on diagnosis of transient ischemic attack and acute ischemic stroke is outlined. Stroke risk in select patients with high-risk TIA can be decreased through dual antiplatelet therapy conducted within 24 hours of symptom onset and sustained for 3 weeks. Thrombolysis within 4.5 hours and mechanical thrombectomy within 24 hours after symptom onset improves functional outcomes.
